New Favorite Things In My Life

I have purchased some new things lately that have quickly become favorites of mine!!! Let me share.....

I hate taking off my makeup especially my eye makeup (eye liner/mascara)and a friend recommended using these Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover Pads. They are wonderful and really do remove my eyeliner and mascara without a lot of scrubbing or any irritation to my eyes!!! Once I use them, then I wash my face as usual. These pads have saved my bath cloths! Between my daughter and I, we have messed up a many of nice bath cloths and once they have mascara/eye liner on them, you never get them clean!!
I was excited to see the new Liberty of London line at Target. I went to check it out the day after it made its debut and I loved it!!! I ended up only making one purchase but I love that one purchase so much. I purchased the beautiful peacock patterned blouse above. (Exact name -Ruffle Neck Top - Turquoise Isis Print) I love the colors, the way it comes up around the neck, how comfortable it (It is lined and is so soft),the ruffle around the neck, and of course the peacock pattern! I hope this was not a one time thing and Target will continue to carry this line every season!!!
As I was reading College Prep's blog, I came across her post about two necklaces she had been given during expecially difficult times in her life. So I checked out the website www.dogeared.com and fell lin love with the Karma line of necklaces. I truly believe in karma and I try and live my life using the Golden Rule - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I went through a very difficult time in 2005 and the Karma necklace is exactly what I need to remind myself to surround myself with positive people and things, peace, and love. It also will remind me that what goes around comes around!!!! Some people may forget what they do to others that is hurtful and just plain wrong but God doesnt and I believe that karma is his little way of setting things straight!!!! I cant wait to get my necklace. I think it will be a part of my everyday routine!!! Go to their web site and check out their other jewelry lines. They are amazing and I love the sayings that come with each piece.
What new things have become favorites in your life??? Share your finds with us!!!

I've Been A Busy Girl And Cant Wait To Get Here

I have been extremely busy of late and have found it hard to have time to blog! College Girl had her Dance Team's Spring Dance Show - Always New York. The show had performances for a whole week and of course I had to attend each and every one!! The show was beyond phenomenal! The show was divided into 3 parts - The wonderful world that makes up New York (the good, the bad, and the ugly), The cultural side of New York, and of course Broadway. College Girl has really blossomed into a beautiful dancer and I was in awe of her performance. She has such great stage presence and I am so proud of her!!! Baby Boy just finished his high school baseball season and is now getting ready for his rec season!!! I love to watch him play baseball and I cant wait for his summer league to kick into high gear! Baseball is a huge part of our summer life. Of course, as a teacher spring means its testing time. We just finished two weeks of state testing and I am relieved to finally be finished! Our school system takes a late spring break - April 10-18 - and I am so ready! Three of my BFF's always take a trip to Panama City and spend a few days having a great time just relaxing, enjoying the sun, the ocean, good food and of course each other's company! I can not wait for April 11 to roll around and for us to hit the road to ) {}PC! Last year we went to a remote beach and went seashell hunting. We found huge shells. I even found a whole star fish!! I have always wanted to find a complete sand dollar and some sea glass. Maybe this year will be my year! I am so glad spring has finally decided to come and stay and I am loving this warm, sunny weather! I just hope we dont have any more unseasonal weather anytime soon! What has been keeping you busy

Wadley Girl Knows Bo

Last night as I was watching Auburn play LSU in basketball, they showed Vincent Edward "Bo" Jackson. He was inducted into the Auburn Baseball Hall of fame yesterday. Now anyone who knows me very well knows that I absoulutely love Bo Jackson!! He is one of the best athletes if not the best athlete of all times! I remember the cold dreary day in November of 1982 that I sat on my bed in the dark watching the Auburn/Alabama game dreading another lost to the mighty Bear Bryant. I also vividly remember when Bo Jackson "went over the top" to score the touchdown that enabled us to beat Alabama for the first time in 10 years!! He helped change history on the plains and became endured in my heart forever!! I was lucky enough to attend Auburn one year of his 4 there. I got to be part of his campaign for the Heisman in 1985. I still have my "Bo Jackson For Heisman" pin as well as my bumper sticker. The day of the Heisman award ceremony, I was taking a Saturday final. My teacher brought in a tv and when it was time for the announcement, she let us watch it. Just to watch him run with a football was like watching poetry in motion. When I see him today or see old clips of him playing ball it brings tears to my eyes! He left Auburn before he actually received his diploma but he always promised his mother he would go back and graduate and that is just what he did! Even though his mother had already passed away, he made good on his promise! He is a man of his convictions and of his word. He is someone young people can look up to and have as a hero and that today my friend is quite a feat. He never used performance enhancing drugs or was a lying cheat. He was a true athlete with God given talent that he used and is still using to make a difference in people's lives! He made a difference in my life as well as every other true Auburn fan! Auburn loves Bo and so does this small town girl!! War Eagle!!! I believe in Auburn and love it!

Loving the 80"s -Preppy Style

Lately I have been doing a lot of reminiscing about days gone by and as I visit the various blogs I follow, I find myself missing the 80's so much! I miss my big rolled hair, my preppy school wardrobe with everything monogrammed, my penny loafers(which I still have complete with the penny I put in them the day I got them), my Tretorn tennis shoes with the different colored/printed sides and backs(loved my madras ones), my add-a-beads, my whale sweater, my walking shorts and knee socks, wearing my sorority letters, my button down shirts, and my Izod shirts, Oh how I could go on and on!! I am going straight to the attic and dig out my Preppy Handbook! Visiting with my new blog friends, I have seen that preppy is still in and I am going to come out of the preppy closet and flaunt my preppiness everywhere!!Yesterday I started by buying the cutest pink/navy madras skirt and pink cable knit cardigan from Target and today I am going to order a pair of Tretorn Tennis shoes (They are hard to find nowadays but I think Land's End has some and with Google nothing is impossible to find!) I can not even describe how comfortable those shoes are not to mention how cute and preppy!! So here's to being preppy and not being ashamed about it!!!

Favorite High School Memories

When I was doing my 25 Random Facts about myself, one of my facts was that I actually enjoyed high school and would go back in a minute and do it all over again. I got to thinking about what I loved about high school and I came up with these reasons:

1. I attended a small high school. It was a K-12 school with around 500 students in the whole school. I loved that everyone knew you and you knew everyone. This went for the teachers too.

2. I had great teachers!!! My favorite teacher was my
English teacher - cKb- She was a wonderful English and literature teacher and I learned so much from her!! She is still near and dear to my heart! She teaches at the local Community College and I really want my daughter to be able to have her as a teacher. College Girl wants to major in English and I think that having cKb would make her love English/literature even more!

3. I loved cheering for my high school! I was a cheerleader for 4 years and was captain my senior year. I was even a cheerleader mascot when I was just 4 years old. I wanted to cheer for my "Bulldogs" from that point on!! I loved pep rallies, wearing my red and white uniforms, homecoming, making signs to hang up at the ball game, painting downtown business windows for the big games, shaking my huge pom poms, supporting my team, dating the quarterback, having a victory line, attending cheerleader clinic every summ
er, and going to away games only to get back real late!

4. My best friend went to high school with me. Even though she was younger than me, we still were at school everyday together and we even cheered together for 1 year. I had many good high school friends that I still am in contact with even now. True friends are friends forever!!

5. I enjoyed learning! I enjoyed getting new notebooks, pens, pencils, and paper each new semester. I couldnt wait to organize my notebooks and get ready to take notes! I feel that I got a gr
eat education at my high school!

6. I loved knowing students from the other schools in our county. Since all the schools in our county were not very big we all knew each other.

7. I loved knowing my biggest crush! He doesnt know what my true feelings were for him back then or still to this day nor will he. But I know!!!

8. I loved having had one of the most inspirational teachers I have ever known. She was dedicated to her students and wanted them to truly understand the concepts of math even when she was dying of cancer. She never though of herself, only of her students that she had to teach! To this day, I think of her often and the things she taught me and instilled me. sWm I miss you and love you!!!!

9. I loved going to high school when drugs and violence wasnt an issue. I loved being able to go to school unafraid and being able to truly learn!!!

10. I loved my high school plain and simple! I still love it to this day. I feel a strong allegia
nce to it and everything about it! New teachers, administrators, students and buildings are there now but the true spirit of ole WHS will always be there always and forever!!!

Love Is.....Chocolate

Forget love....I would rather fall in chocolate!! It is a well known fact that I absolutely love chocolate! My favorite candy is Reese's Peanut Butter Cups but any chocolate is simply divine to me! I found two great chocolate recipes that would be perfect for Valentine's Day. Both of these delicious recipes came from the Betty Crocker web site (http://www.bettycrocker.com/). Try them out and see if you or your significant other aren't just in heaven!
Chocolate Heart Peanut Butter Cookies
1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker peanut butter cookie mix
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon water
1 egg
2 tablespoons sugar
36 heart-shaped milk chocolate candies
1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F. In medium bowl, stir cookie mix, oil, water, and egg until
dough forms.
2. Shape dough into 36 (1 inch) balls: roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased
cookie sheets.
3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Immediately press chocolate candy
into top of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely,
about 20 minutes, before storing in a tightly covered container.
YUMMY! YUMMY! YUMMY! YUMMY! YUMMY! YUMMY! YUMMY! YUMMY! YUMMY!
Better-Than-Almost-Anything-Cake
(Well, almost everything)
1 box Betty Crocker Super Moist German chocolate cake mix
water, vegetable oil, and eggs called for on cake mix box
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
1 jar (16 to 17 oz) caramel, butterscotch or fudge topping
1 container (8 oz) frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 bag (8oz) toffee chips or bits
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees (325 degrees for dark or nonstick pan). Bake cake as directed on box for 13x9 inch pan.
2. Poke top of warm cake every 1/2 inch with handle of wooden spoon. Drizzle milk evenly over top of cake; let stand until milk has been absorbed into cake. Drizzle with topping of your choice. Run knife around sides of pan to loosen cake. Cover and refrigerate about 2 hours or until chilled.
3. Spread whipped topping over top of cake. Sprinkle with toffee chips. Store covered in refrigerator.
Special Tips to Insure Success With This Dessert
1. The cake may stick to the wooden spoon handle while you're using it to make holes, so occasionally wipe off the handle.
2. Caramel topping will be easier to drizzle if it has been kept at room temperature. If refrigerated, remove the lid and microwave on High about 15 seconds.
3. Special Touch - Instead of the toffee chips or bits, coarsely chop 5 bars (1.4 oz each) chocolate English Toffee candy, sprinkle on top of the cake.
Scrumptious! Scrumptious! Scrumptious! Scrumptious! Scrumptious!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's weekend!!!

Love Is...

I used to love to read the "Love Is" cartoons in the newspaper when I was a teenager. I used to cut them out and put them on my bulletin board while I dreamed of finding the love of my life and living happily ever after! Unfortunately, I was "seeing things through rose-colored glasses". I don't know if everyone does has a love of their life but I do hope one day that I can BELIEVE in love again. I do believe that God has a plan for me and hopefully part of of that plan is healing my broken heart putting someone in my life that helps me find a new pair of rose colored glasses.

"Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." 1 Cor. 13:4-7

I want to find the love God intended us to find. I want to find this kind of love. This is the true kind of love!!

A Mother's Love Is Abounding

My mother never fails to amaze me! She is always there for me no matter what and is willing to do anything I need her to do!! I will never be able to repay her for everything she does for me, gives to me, and provides for me even if I try for the rest of my life! You can not put a price tag on these things because they are priceless!! I need to be taking care of her but instead she is taking care me and my family without so much as a complaint even though she doesn't feel well and is having health problems. So thank you Mother for everything!! I love you more than you will ever know!! I appreciate everything you do for me even if I don't always express that to you! If I can be just half of the mother she is, my children will be lucky! They are all ready lucky to have her in their life and to be able call her their "Nanny". The definition of mother in the dictionary should say someone who is selfless and devoted to their children and it should have a picture of my mother.
"A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take"

So don't go another day without telling your mother how much you love and appreciate them. Being a mother is the most important job in the world!!

Blessed Are The PURR at Heart

Thank the good Lord that it is Friday!! I don't think I could have taken another day at school this week!! All I can say is SPRING BREAK!! Today I decided to do a post on another favorite of mine....cats!! Anyone that has a cat knows that no one owns a cat...they own you!!! I have never been a dog person but I have always loved cats. Cats are cuddly, loving (even though some can have catitude), spoiled, and act like people!! My almost 20 lb. tabby Scooter is the most loving cat I have ever had and he is just like my baby!! He has been there for me while I went through an especially difficult time in my life and while I have been experiencing empty nest syndrome. I love when he sleeps with me and snuggles with me keeping me warm. He actually stretches out and lays his head on the pillow. I think cats are angels with fur!!! I can have a bad day, but when I walk in the door and am met with 20 lbs. of purring pure love, all my day's problems just melt away!!!

So Scooter......You Are:
1. the cat's meow
2. purr-fectly sweet
3. the kit and the kaboodle
4. a spoiled-rotten cat
5. a purrrrrrson
6. my friend

Wishful Wednesdays

"When you wish upon a star
makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires will come to you
If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do
Fate is kind
She brings to those
who love
The sweetest fulfillment of
Their secret longing
Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and see you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true!"

From Pinocchio

My posts on Wednesdays are going to be called Wishful Wednesdays. Wednesdays are fun days for me because they signal that I am on the down side of the work week. I am always thankful for what I have. I have a good job (when so many don't), I have 2 wonderful healthy children who I am so proud of, I have wonderful friends, I have a home to go to every day (when so many don't) , I have 2 loving parents who would do anything for me, and I have my good health but it is nice sometimes to wish for things you would love to really have one day. Sometimes it might be things you know you will never have but sometimes it is things that are within your grasp. I have lots of things I wish I could have. Some of them are things I have seen here on some of your wonderful blogs. Some of them I may some day own and some are things that will remain in my dreams. But hey, it never hurts to dream!!!! So here is my first Wishful Wednesday.....

1. Mr. Big from SATC
Chris Noth
He is soooooo dreamy!!

2. A blue enamel Tiffany box-
Tickled Pink and Green posted
this on her blog and I fell in LOVE!
When my daughter visitis NYC next
year, I will be having her stop in and
pick this up for me!
3. A mountain cabin in the
Smokey Mountains for
get aways.

Oh well, only one of my wishes are truly attainable but a girl can certainly wish, hope, and dream!!! If you could wish for anything, what would it be????

Let's go to The Movies

This weekend I did make it to the theater to see When in Rome and the movie critics were wrong! It was such a cute movie!! It was a fun, feel good movie. I loved it and Kristin Bell was adorable!! Look out Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, and Sandra Bullock!!! There are so many new movies coming out all at one time that I want to see. It looks like I will be spending the next few Saturday afternoons at the box office!!!
Movies I want to See:
1. Dear John
2. Valentine's Day
3. Alice in Wonderland
4. The Tooth Fairy

Going to the movies is one of my favorite things to do. It is fun to escape real life for 2 hours and become engrossed in someone else's. I love funny movies that make me feel good!! Dear John probably will make me cry but I have heard so many good things about it and the book is flying off the bookstore bookshelves. Johnny Depp looks so intriguing as the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland and The Rock is funny and I loved him in the Game Plan so I know I will love him The Tooth Fairy. Valentine's Day has so many different actors/actresses in it, it should rock!!

But the one movie, I can't wait to see is SATC 2. I loved that series so much and was heart-broken when it went off the air. Come on summer!!!! I absolutely adore Chris Noth as Mr. Big!!!
What movies do you want to see???

I've Got A Friend In You

Webster's Dictionary defines a friend as one attached to another by affection or esteem. I can say I have many good friends but one friend has been my friend for about 40 years and I consider myself lucky to have had her in my life for such a long time! She has seen me at my best and at my worst but still loves me anyway. We have had a lot of fun through out the years, shared secrets with each other, been there for each other, been in each other's weddings, and raised our kids together. I want to say to cKp that I love you dearly and I am so glad God put you in my life! We may not see each other every day but I know you are there and would do anything for me as I would for you!! One day this small town girl at heart will be back home and we can see each other every day! Just know I love you and remember "Friendship is not a big thing....it is a million little things."

Friends should never be taken for granted! If you have a special friend in your life....tell them how much they mean to you and always keep them close to your heart!!!

Southern Sunday

Today caught me thinking a lot about my darling, most wonderful grandmother affectionately known as "Big Mama". She was a BIG part of my life and one of the most wonderful ladies there ever was! She was smart, creative, a hard worker, loving, and giving, .....perfect in my eyes!!!! She had true old fashioned southern values. To be taught the ideas and traditions of a southern lady, you must have a mother or grandmother who is/was a true southern lady. That was my Big Mama. She taught my mother and then she and my mother taught me. Both my mother and I were so lucky to have such a wonderful woman in our lives! I was her only grandchild and she spoiled me silly but she also taught me what was right and wrong and how to be a true lady!! I have decided as a tribute to my Big Mama, I am going to devote my Sunday posts to things pertaining to being southern and the things my grandmother believed in and passed on to me.

She taught me how to be a Southern Lady and these are some of the things she taught me that were important:

1. Never wear white shoes BEFORE Easter or AFTER Labor Day (except brides) According to my daughter, this no longer is a fashion must but I grew up knowing this and to me it is still a rule to be followed!

2. Be charming!

3. Never show anger in public. Smile and act like a lady!

4. Be elegant and graceful.

5. Attend church every Sunday.

6. Thank you notes are a necessary component of being gracious and appreciative.

7. Family is important and you need to spend time together.

8. Hard work gets you everywhere.

9. To be beautiful on the outside, you have to be beautiful on the inside.

10. Love is unconditional!

Big Mama I love you and miss you so much each and everyday. Everything I am is because of the things you taught me and my mama and the values you help instill in me. I just hope that one day I can be half the woman you were!!!! Thank you for helping make me the person that I am today!!!!

I Am Sure I Was meant To Lead A Life Of Privilege

I am convinced that I was supposed to live a life of privilege and never have to work so I bought this coaster, notepad, and magnet to remind and assure myself of this fact! Somewhere along the way, my destiny got a little off kilter but a girl can dream!! I actually bought my items in a little gift shop in Auburn but you can go to www.mikwright.com and order them. They also sell cards and napkins. I smile everytime I put a glass on my coaster, tear a sheet off my notepad, or put something on the fridge using my magnet. The old fashioned picture makes them even cuter!!

The actual quote on my set is "i was never meant to work." On the website there are lots of other cute sayings and pictures to choose from. If you were meant to live a life of privilege and not work.....what would you do with your time???? I know what I would do....travel, travel, travel!!!!

Southern Belle T-Shirts For A Southern Belle

"Orange and Navy are
tried and true but these
colors will still rock you."

"Only Southern Belles
know the true meaning
of Ya"ll."

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm
to pass...it's about learning to dance
in the rain."

I absolutely love Southern Belle t-shirts! If you are a southern belle and love things southern...you must get you one! I love the sayings and most of them are so appropriate for my life. Above are three that I desperately want. Being a big Auburn fan, the orange and blue one is a must. They have shirts for other SEC teams too! My favorite word is ya'll so of course I need that one. You can not be a true southerner and not say ya'll about a hundred times a day! I need the Learning to Dance in the Rain one to remind me to quit waiting on my life to become perfect and learn to embrace it the way it is!

Check out the web site www.southernbellestore.com to see all the cute shirts they have. Any and all southern belles need at least one!

XOXOXO Ya'll,

TGIF and Weekend Fun

All I can say is that I am so thankful that today is Friday!!! I dont' think I could have taken another day of school this week! This has been a very hectic week and I had a lot to get accomplished!! I hear my bed calling me even as I type this! My plans for this weekend include getting some much needed rest, going to the movies to see the new release When In Rome and out to eat with a friend who I haven't seen in a very long time, and getting to see my parents and College Girl to celebrate my belated birthday!!!! My friend and I are also planning on pampering ourselves with a pedicure! I can't wait! After the week and month I have had, I am certainly looking forward to a fun weekend doing things for myself instead of killing myself doing for everyone else!!! Everyone needs a little time and pampering for themselves!
The reviews for When In Rome aren't very good but I love Kristin Bell and it looks like a fun chick flick and that is just what I am in the mood for! I don't want to see anything too depressing or scary!!!
What are your plans for the weekend? Will you be doing something fun just for yourself?
Happy Weekend!!!!

Snuggle Up With A good Book

Since it has gotten cold again here in the South, I am in need of a good book to snuggle up with next to the fire! As in my first post I commented that I loved mystery/thriller novels. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good mystery/thriller novel? I just finished Santa Clawed by Rita Mae Brown. All her books are mysteries and one of the main characters is Mrs. Murphy, a tiger cat with brains and the know how to help her mistress solve even the hardest crime! If you like cats and mysteries, then you will love her Mrs. Murphy mysteries.
There is nothing better that curling up with a good book, a roaring fire, a warm blanket, soft pj's, and my 20 lb. tabby Scooter!!!!

In my last post I commented how much I needed a new raincoat since I really haven't had a cute one since my college days and how much I needed rain boots since College Girl took hers with her. Well....I found this cute, preppy one at L.L. Bean on sale for $69.00. It has my two favorite colors....pink and green and the cutest lobster lining!!! I think I need to order it right away.
I began looking for hot pink rain boots immediately to go with the raincoat and I found these at www.discountsafetygear.com. They are Puddletons and are $26.50.(Yea!!Good Price!)
I am excited about my new finds and can't wait to get to ordering!!!! Once I get my new purchases, I might not be so grumpy the next time it rains!!!!

Rainy Days Are The Best

Yesterday was certainly a rainy day in my neck of the woods. These type of days are the best! I would have loved to have stayed in bed and read and watched TV all day but unfortunately I had laundry to do and a house to clean!!! My daughter kMe was home from college and I had to get her ready to go back to school! I did convince her to stay until this morning because of the immense amount of rain we received yesterday and it was nice to have her back in the house again!!! I am definitely having trouble adjusting to her not being here everyday!!! Heck.....I just plain miss her! I dont think Mothers ever get used to not worrying about their"babies" no matter how old they are! How do you like to spend rainy days??? I think I need a new pair of preppy rain boots since college girl took hers with her! I think a nice plaid pair or one with polka dots will do just great!! Now if I just could find my monogrammed pink and navy rain coat from college! Gosh I loved that jacket!!! Every preppy in the 80's had one and I think I just might need one of those too!!!
